Individual Rights and Freedoms make America Great
- We believe that we have individual Rights given to us by our creator.
- Individuals have privileges and responsibilities that are inherent within those Rights.
- America is great because its people are great. Not because government is great.
- The rights of the individual are more important than the rights of the government.
- Each individual, regardless of race or creed or sexual preference, has the Right to pursue happiness with a minimum of governmental interference or intervention.
- Individuals can make better decisions about their futures than government bureaucrats can make for those individuals.
- America is great because its people aspire for independence, not dependence.
- Parents can raise their children better with minimal government interference.
Americans are a Good and Decent People
- Republicans believe that the American People are Good and the United States is the most benevolent country in the World, especially during times of disaster.
Republicans believe Our Economy is Strong.
- America is great because we have private property Rights.
- Property Rights of the individual are more important than the government’s tax base.
- America is great because the individual has the Right to pursue success, and the Right to fail.
- America has the strongest and most resilient economy in the World.
- The individual spends his money more wisely than government administrators spend the public’s money.
- Free market solutions to economic matters are more productive than government mandates.
- American manufacturing is competitive when not collared by high taxes or suffocating regulations. Our nation’s tax policies should promote and support products wholly manufactured or grown within the United States. Our nation’s tax policies should promote and support the formation of new businesses that create new jobs for Americans within the United States.
- Food products that are wholly grown in the United States and purchased in local stores by local citizens should not be taxed.
- Global Warming is based upon computer models that may be wrong. New and existing sources of energy need to be developed. Dependable energy sources promote a strong economy. Environmental regulations should be limited and reasonable, yet protective of the health of nearby populations. The Individual makes the best decisions with respect to the conservation of energy and materials.
- Republicans are respectful of their neighbor’s Property and treasure.
Republicans believe in Limited Taxation
- Government has enough money and needs to become more efficient and more accountable to its people.
- Government programs spend too much of their budgets on administrator’s salaries instead of for the beneficiaries of those programs.
- Lower tax rates result in greater tax collections by the Federal Government. The 2001 Tax Cuts should be made permanent.
- La Plata County Tax revenues have significant dependence upon the oil and gas industry. Public policy should encourage formation of new businesses and the expansion of the economic base. As oil and gas revenues decrease, the City and County should adjust spending before increasing the tax burden on residential and commercial property.
- Tax revenues should be used for essential government responsibilities.
Republicans Embrace Legal Immigration
- Legal immigrants, Legal Residents, and Legal Guest Workers who respect our values, abide by our laws, and respect our sovereignty are embraced by Republicans.
- Republicans believe in “wide gates” within “high fences”. The Department of Immigration and Naturalization should be quicker to evaluate candidates for immigration. Quotas for Mexican legal immigrants and legal guest workers should be increased.
- English is the language of business throughout the world. We encourage our citizens and residents to learn other languages, especially English. English is the historic language of our government and our commerce. The official language of the United States should be English.
Republicans Believe in Private Healthcare
- The United States has the best healthcare system in the world. “Universal Healthcare” is the same as socialized healthcare. Universal healthcare will decrease the quality of healthcare we enjoy now. More doctors and healthcare providers entering or remaining in the workplace will increase the quality and affordability of healthcare.
- We support educating more doctors and nurses.
- We support the equalization of Medicare payments to healthcare providers on the West Slope and simplifying the insurance payment process.
- We will encourage more individuals to become doctors and nurses when there are more qualified schools or when existing schools increase enrollments.
- We will retain more doctors when liability insurance is affordable. Liability insurance will be more affordable when it is more difficult for lawyers to sue doctors for false or frivolous claims.
- Pharmaceutical companies and medical supply companies have advanced medical care in the United States. Higher standards for filing lawsuits and awarding courts judgments should be adopted. The development of safe, beneficial medical products should be encouraged.
- Individuals spend their healthcare dollars wiser than bureaucrat mandated and dictated programs.
- Each individual should have the opportunity to invest in medical savings accounts, with or independent of insurance companies.
Republicans Believe in Social Security
- Tax policies that result in increased jobs for US workers will increase the solvency of the Social Security System.
- Social Security benefits are diminished when they are taxed.
- Individuals should be allowed to work after retirement without losing any part of their benefits.
We support Poor and Indigent Citizens
- Americans struggling to escape poverty, especially young families, individuals who are indigent through no fault of their own, and mothers who choose giving birth over abortion deserve our support. We pledge to assist those who may be poor, but who are striving and working to improve their lives and the lives of their children.
- Volunteerism and faith based charities are the most efficient welfare delivery systems in America.
- Overlapping government programs should be combined and the savings in administration costs should be used to increase benefits to the poor, the indigent, and the aged within existing programs.
Life
Each life is precious. Life begins at fertilization.
Republicans Believe in Limited Government
A Government that governs least, governs best.
- There are enough laws, programs, and Federal agencies already (redundancy acknowledged).
The programs simply need to consolidate and become more efficient. - Classifying population groups for the purpose of granting special rights and privileges creates elitist classes of citizens.
All individuals deserve equal treatment under the laws of our states and nation. - No Congressman or Senator is so important that they cannot be replaced. Reasonable term limits will improve our government, reduce incentives for becoming career politicians, and reduce many corrupting influences to career politicians.
- The most important function of the Federal Government is to protect and defend the United States against outside intervention.
War on Terror
- We were attacked in Beruit in 1983, again at the World Trade Center in 1992 and again on 9-11-01 by the same forces of evil. We did not deserve to be attacked.
- We are presently fighting in Iraq. Whether right or wrong, our exit strategy for Iraq must be “Victory”.
We must defeat terrorists before they attack us in our homeland again. - The US military must remain under the command of American officers under the command of the Commander-in-Chief.
Firearms
Law abiding American citizens have the Right to own firearms.
The Judiciary
- Our elected representatives promulgate laws. Judges should not legislate or create new law.
- Judeo-Christian principles are the foundation of our legal system. Displays of celebration for religious holidays, such as Christmas, in public places and public venues are reasonable and respectful traditional uses of public property.
- Strict constructionists should be appointed to the courts.
Our Constitution is our Contract with our Government ---Bud Davis
